April 2026

The Honourable Chief Justice Skolrood issued judgement in Law Society of British Columbia v. British Columbia (Attorney General) at 2026 BCSC 779 on April 29. As an outcome of the judgement, the LPA Transitional Board and LPA Indigenous Council continue to move forward with the work and remain on track.

January 2025

Work Plan approved by the Transitional Board and Indigenous Council.

July-August 2024

Transitional Board, Indigenous Council and Advisory Committee are formed.

May 2024

Bill 21 receives Royal Assent and the transitional provisions of the Legal Professions Act begin.

April 2024

.The BC government tables Bill 21 – the Legal Professions Act.

March 2022

The BC government announces its intention to combine regulation of the legal profession under one regulator.
